An official update of the current political composition of Argyll and Bute Council this evening shows that the bungee-jumping Councillor Robert G Macintyre of Lomond North has bounced again.
Don’t ask how many times this athlete of local government has made the leap between variations of Argyll and Bute for Change [Group/Alliance] and the Argyll and Bute Independent Councillors Group. The catch and release of a bungee cord has some longevity. There may be more appearances and disappearances to come.
This is of no account, of course, but we all welcome a spot of light relief.
Related news is that Councillor Isobel Strong is apparently insisting that it is her right to remain as Provost until the next local government elections. However, a body of support seems to be gathering around the able and respected Bute Councilor, Len Scoullar.
There was a meeting this afternoon at which the remaining posts were to be discussed – so there should be clarification soon. The new coalition, has committed to making appointments on merit alone.

Here is the official position – as of 5pm this evening. Note that the first three groups of councillors below make up the Argyll and Bute for Change Alliance, with a total of 16 councillors, led by Councillor Duncan Macintyre.
The new coalition in office at the Council is composed of all of the groups below except the SNP Group and Councilor Fred Hall, who is non-aligned.
